Facilitating Meaningful Use Success
The requirements for Meaningful Use (MU) contain several items which involve transferring medical records. Most are related to clinical events such as discharge, electronically passing data for continued care, or interfaces with public health agencies.
One requirement, however, deals with the traditional release of medical records, also known as the release of information process. The requirement is to provide an electronic copy of the medical record when a patient requests it in that format, and to do so within three business days.
HealthPort can help satisfy this requirement as we already deliver more than 50 percent of requests electronically in three days or less. We triage Meaningful Use requests to ensure timely delivery; and, with a seamless integration into your electronic health record (EHR), we can speed the process even more.
To clarify how the release of information (ROI) process is affected by Meaningful Use, we have created a white paper, “Meaningful Use and Release of Information,” that provides an in-depth explanation of the relationship.
